April 14–25, 2025 | Fare Om Educational Center, Moorea
Earlier this April, we had the great pleasure of welcoming a vibrant group of travellers from Brisbane, Australia to the Fare Om in Moorea. Over the course of 11 unforgettable days, the group immersed themselves in the French language, Polynesian culture, and the breathtaking natural beauty of our island. This journey wasn’t just a trip—it was a rich, shared experience that touched hearts, expanded minds, and connected cultures.

French Language Lessons with Heart
Language classes were led by Isabelle, Dimitri, Maud, and Sophie—each offering a personalised, interactive approach tailored to different levels and interests.
For beginner’s level every morning began with French classes led by the talented and supportive Sophie, who tailored the lessons to meet each student where they were on their language journey. Hannah, a self-declared beginner, shared how Sophie helped her grasp pronunciation with ease and confidence. “It was amazing,” she said. “I felt guided and supported the whole time.” Learning was joyful, interactive, and deeply connected to everyday experiences on the island.
Russell, intermediate level student, shared his honest take on the language journey:“I am very satisfied and enjoyed Dimitri's and Maud's lessons, but I must admit I haven't progressed as I should have.” His reflection was echoed with appreciation for the tranquil learning spaces the students enjoyed—many of the lessons took place outdoors in Fare Om’s garden or at a nearby tea shop, blending nature and language learning harmoniously.
Hannah highlighted how impactful the course was for her personally:“My biggest achievement was much better listening and understanding of French.” Her gratitude extended especially to Sophie, who supported her as a total beginner and helped unlock the rhythm and pronunciation of the language with kindness and clarity.
Kathleen added that what she appreciated most was the opportunity to practice French through role-playing scenarios—a fun and practical way to engage with the language in context.
Stretch, Breathe, Connect: Wellness in Paradise
Balance is key to deep learning, and the group enjoyed yoga and stretching session guided by Santiago, whose gentle leadership adapted to everyone’s abilities. Jacki praised it as a superb start to the course, grounding the group both physically and mentally for their adventures.
Adventures on Land and Ocean
One of the standout highlights of the trip was the lagoon boat excursion with snorkelling. Crystal-clear waters, coral gardens, and vibrant marine life left the group speechless. Kahren described it as “the highlight of the whole trip to Polynesia.” Hannah agreed, saying it far exceeded her expectations.
On land, local hikes through Moorea’s lush valleys and forest streams revealed a different kind of magic. Philip found the experience deeply enriching, noting how the guided walks combined “amazing nature with cultural background and traditional knowledge.” Margaret also loved the hikes, especially the refreshing swims in the forest stream—“spectacular,” she called it.
Immersing in Culture Through Creative Expression
Art and craft were central to the group’s cultural immersion. Jacki described the art workshop with Sophie as “rooted in the cultural dimension of Polynesia—very enjoyable.” The group explored natural pigment techniques and painted with inspiration drawn from the island’s landscapes.
The flower decoration workshop with Adeline and basket weaving session with local artisan Mika were other favourite moments. “Mika was a great teacher,” said Jacki, “and the experience was amazing.” These workshops allowed the group to not only create beautiful handmade items but to connect with the artistic spirit of the Polynesian people.
History, Nature & Connection at the Fare Natura Museum
A visit to Moorea’s Fare Natura Museum left a strong impression, especially on Philip. “The richness of the natural world and the island’s history came alive thanks to a fantastic guide,” he shared. It was a chance for everyone to reflect on the deep interconnection between people and place in Polynesia.
Cooking, Drumming, Dancing & Dining
From traditional Polynesian drum and dance workshops to cooking local dishes with Fare Om’s chefs, every sensory aspect of culture was explored. The meals—three delicious, nourishing feasts per day—were a highlight on their own. Isabelle received glowing praise for the variety and flavour of her cooking, and especially for her thoughtful attention to dietary needs. “Delicious,” said Jacki, “with excellent variety and so much care.”
A Journey to Remember
This immersive journey was much more than a holiday. It was a learning adventure, a celebration of culture, a reconnection with nature, and a shared experience of growth and joy. We’re so grateful to the Brisbane group for bringing their curiosity, energy, and open hearts to Fare Om.
We can’t wait to welcome more groups for future sessions and continue building meaningful bridges between cultures—one word, one dance, one shared meal at a time.
